COSTING SPECIALIST – European WATCH trading, sourcing & production management co (Lai Chi Kok)

ROLE MISSION

• You will ensure that supplier quotations and customer prices are accurate, competitive and commercially sound.

• The role will review watch component costs, compare factory quotations, negotiate with suppliers and support the sales team in preparing profitable quotations for ODM and OEM watch projects.

ROLE SUMMARY

• This is an individual contributor role for an experienced watch costing and quotation professional.

• You will work with factories and suppliers to review the costs of watch components, including cases, movements, dials, hands, crystals, straps, bracelets, packaging and related items.

• The role will focus on commercial costing, quotation preparation, supplier price comparison and negotiation. 

• You will also support and train the sales team to understand supplier quotations, watch component costs, margins and pricing structures.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Prepare and review quotations for ODM and OEM watch projects.

• Analyse supplier quotations and the cost breakdown of major watch components.

• Review prices for watch cases, movements, dials, hands, crystals, straps, bracelets, buckles, packaging and other accessories.

• Check whether supplier quotations match the required product specifications.

• Compare quotations from different factories and suppliers.

• Ensure that quotations are compared on a like-for-like basis.

• Clarify quotation details, assumptions, exclusions and additional charges with factories.

• Negotiate competitive prices, tooling charges, sample fees, minimum order quantities and other commercial terms with suppliers.

• Review the impact of order quantity, product specifications, packaging and development requirements on the final price.

• Calculate product cost, additional project costs, company margin and customer selling price.

• Support the sales team in evaluating customer enquiries and preparing accurate and commercially viable quotations.

• Train and guide the sales team to understand watch component costs, supplier quotations, margins and pricing structures.

• Provide advice to the sales team on supplier pricing and negotiation strategies.

• Identify cost-saving opportunities through supplier comparison, price negotiation and specification review.

• Maintain accurate costing records, quotation files and historical supplier-price information.

• Maintain supplier quotation comparison templates and costing databases.

• Monitor changes in supplier pricing and watch component costs.

• Work closely with sales, product development, sourcing and production management teams.

• Follow up with factories and vendors to clarify quotation details and commercial conditions.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Minimum 5 years of costing related experience in the watch industry.

• Experience in watch costing, merchandising, sourcing, purchasing, product development, trading or a related function.

• Solid experience in preparing and reviewing quotations for watches.

• Good knowledge of watch components, materials, product specifications and supplier pricing.

• Good understanding of the costs of watch cases, movements, dials, hands, crystals, straps, bracelets, packaging and accessories.

• Good knowledge of margins, costing methods and pricing structures.

• Strong negotiation skills with factories and suppliers.

• Able to analyse supplier quotations and identify cost differences or unclear charges.

• Able to compare factory quotations on a like-for-like basis.

• Commercially minded with good numerical and analytical skills.

• Proficient of written and spoken English. Mandarin is an advantage.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other standard office applications.
