Role Mission

To deliver reliable, cost-effective, and quality-driven procurement of fruits and vegetables through strong supplier relationships, market intelligence, and best-in-class sourcing standards.

Role Summary

Responsible for sourcing, pricing review, securing supply, new product development, and expanding product range.
You will negotiate pricing and terms, manage supplier relationships, monitor market trends, and ensure stable supply, quality, and cost efficiency to maintain our competitive edge in Hong Kong's fresh food market.
Reporting Line: Senior Purchasing Manager
Team Size: Purchasing team of 6 members

Key Responsibilities

Lead sourcing strategies for fruits and vegetables from local and overseas suppliers
Conduct regular pricing reviews and analyze market trends for competitive procurement costs
Secure stable supply to meet business demand and customer requirements
Drive new product development by identifying emerging varieties and trends
Expand product range by introducing new fruit and vegetable varieties
Evaluate supplier capabilities, quality standards, and pricing for optimal decisions
Monitor seasonal availability, market trends, and price fluctuations
Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and quality standards
Secure cost-effective deals while maintaining quality and supply stability
Build and maintain strong relationships with growers, wholesalers, importers, and distributors
Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and evaluations
Resolve supplier issues, disputes, and delivery problems promptly
Coordinate with sales, logistics, warehouse, quality control, and operations teams
Ensure timely delivery of purchased products
Communicate purchase orders, delivery schedules, and quality specifications clearly
Ensure products meet standards in freshness, quality, quantity, and safety
Verify compliance with food safety regulations and quality certifications
Manage procurement records, purchase orders, invoices, and supplier contracts
Track inventory levels and purchasing needs
Prepare reports on purchasing performance, supplier performance, and market trends
Support purchasing strategies and procurement policies
Participate in ad hoc projects

Ideal Candidates

Tertiary education in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Business Administration, Agriculture, Food Science, or related disciplines
3–5+ years of purchasing experience in fruits or vegetables
Experience sourcing fruits and vegetables from Mainland China is a big plus
Strong knowledge of fresh produce sourcing, seasonal products, supply chain, and market dynamics
Proven experience in negotiating pricing, terms, and supplier relationships
Good command of English and Chinese (written and verbal)
Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel for data analysis
Familiarity with procurement systems is advantageous
Experience in supermarket, food wholesale, import/export, or fresh produce trading
Familiar with supplier evaluation, cost control, and quality management
Ability to build long-term supplier partnerships
Proactive, adaptable, and team-oriented
