Role Mission
- You will support product safety compliance for switching mode power supply products across the product development and production lifecycle.
- This role ensures safe, certifiable product design by working closely with engineering, design, and production teams to meet applicable safety standards and certification requirements.
Role Summary
- Reporting to the Principal Engineer of Safety, this role is part of a Product Safety team of four members, including this new headcount.
- The successful candidate will provide technical expertise in product safety, support product design and manufacturing teams, and manage safety testing, certification, and nonconformance follow-up for switching mode power supply products.
- This position is based in Hong Kong, with no or very few trips required.
Job Description
- Work in accordance with the quality management system within the Product Safety Team.
- Provide technical support to Product Design Teams in Hong Kong and Wuhan, as well as Production Teams.
- Review the construction of new switching mode power supply products to ensure compliance with relevant safety standards.
- Develop testing plans for newly designed products and conduct safety testing accordingly.
- Prepare Safety Submission Packages for approval by safety agencies.
- Follow up on product nonconformances and support corrective actions.
- Provide product safety guidance and support to production plants to ensure manufacturing compliance with safety requirements.
- Maintain the product safety laboratory in accordance with safety agency requirements.
- Support the maintenance and continual improvement of the Product Safety Team’s quality management system.
Ideal Candidate
- Degree holder in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Over 10 years of product safety experience in switching mode power supplies.
- Solid experience working in a multinational corporation.
- Proven track record in achieving compliance certifications such as IEC 62368-1, GB4943.1, or equivalent standards.
- Strong knowledge of product safety standards, including IEC 62368-1 and GB4943.1.
- Experience handling factory nonconformance issues identified by safety agencies.
- Prior exposure to working outside Hong Kong is preferred.
- Good understanding of switching mode power supplies and product safety requirements.
- Strong project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proactive, independent, and able to work effectively across functions.
- Fluent in both English and Mandarin.
