Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the database services team, provide technical guidance and resource allocation to ensure the stable and efficient operation of all database and application systems
- Oversee the plan, architecture, and execution of the new ERP system setup, with a primary focus on database migration, data integrity, performance optimization, and seamless cutover from legacy systems
- Manage, maintain, and continuously improve the performance, availability, and security of mission-critical application systems and database infrastructure
- Provide technical support for UNIX and Linux system administration, including system setup, configuration, third-party software installation, patch upgrades, system monitoring, and health checks
- Implement and maintain robust database and system backup strategies, disaster recovery (DR) plans, and high-availability (HA) solutions to ensure business continuity and minimize downtime
- Collaborate with application development teams to optimize database schema design, complex PL/SQL, and index strategies to achieve maximum application efficiency
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system and database incidents, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence
- Maintain and enforce stringent system and database security procedures, including access control, role-based permissions, data encryption, and vulnerability management to comply with organizational policies and audit requirements
- Manage the lifecycle of systems and databases, including version upgrades, capacity planning, and storage management to support future growth
- Work in shifts and irregular hours as required
- Performing any other duties as assigned by supervisors
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or a related discipline
- Minimum 10 years of experience in system administration and database administration, with at least 2 years in a team leadership or supervisory capacity
- Excellent system and database troubleshooting skills
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix system administration
- In-depth knowledge of RDBMS, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, and administration
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across development and infrastructure teams
- Hands-on experience in script programming such as Linux shell script, Python, Perl or C will be an advantage
Candidates with less/more experience will also be considered for appointment at the relevant rank.
Salary and Fringe Benefits
The rank and commencing salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits, where applicable, include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund and gratuity.
