COMPANY OVERVIEW

  • We are part of a US-listed apparel manufacturing group with its own factories in Southeast Asia.

  • The group manufactures and exports sportswear, outerwear and casual wear for well-known global brands, including major US labels in outdoor, athletic and fashion.

  • Our products include knit and woven tops, jackets, pants, shorts and activewear, mainly for the US market.

  • Our Hong Kong office supports product development, sourcing and customer coordination, using the group’s US market experience, compliance standards and manufacturing strength to deliver quality, speed and value.

  • We are seeking an experienced Merchandising Manager to manage US-market garment programmes independently and support the growth of the merchandising function.

ROLE MISSION

  • Lead merchandising activities for US-market casual wear and sportswear programmes, ensuring products are delivered on time, within target cost and to the required quality standards.

  • Build strong relationships with US customers, factories and internal teams to support smooth order execution and long-term business growth.

ROLE SUMMARY

  • Report directly to the Director and work closely with product development, technical, sourcing and factory teams.

  • The Merchandising Manager will independently manage assigned US brand programmes in both woven and knit casual wear and sportswear.

  • The role will handle the full merchandising cycle, from customer briefs, costing and sampling through to order follow-up, production and shipment.

  • In the initial stage, the role will work independently; there may be an opportunity to develop and lead a small team as the business grows.

  • Regular travel to Mainland China required.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Manage assigned US customer accounts and garment programmes, covering both woven and knit products.

  • Handle the full merchandising cycle, including order follow-up, costing, sampling, fit sessions, production planning and shipment coordination.

  • Understand customer briefs, seasonal trends and sales targets, and translate them into clear product and order requirements.

  • Work closely with factories to ensure timely development, production and delivery.

  • Coordinate with technical, sourcing, quality and production teams to resolve issues and maintain production schedules.

  • Manage costing and negotiate with suppliers and factories to achieve target FOB prices while maintaining quality and compliance standards.

  • Monitor order progress, critical paths and delivery schedules; identify risks early and implement timely solutions.

  • Ensure products meet US market requirements, customer standards, testing, quality and sustainability requirements.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date order records, tech packs, sample files and production documents.

  • Provide regular updates to the Director and relevant internal teams on order status, issues and business developments.

  • In the later stage, recruit, train and lead a small merchandising team to support business growth.

IDEAL CANDIDATES

  • Tertiary education, preferably in Fashion, Textiles, Garment Technology or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on garment merchandising experience, preferably in a garment factory, trading company or supplier environment.

  • Experience in both woven and knit garments is a must.

  • Experience in casual wear or fast fashion is highly preferred.

  • Strong exposure to US-market programmes and familiarity with US customer requirements.

  • Solid knowledge of garment production, costing, sampling, fitting, quality control and shipment procedures.

  • Strong communication, negotiation, problem-solving and organizational skills.

  • Willing to travel to Mainland China regularly.

  • Proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese; Mandarin is an advantage.
