We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Arts and Social Sciences

Part-Time Technical Assistant (R6972) (A&SS) (Ref: 26001QY)

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will assist Principal Investigator in the research project “Towards a Canto-Pacific Imagination: Narrating Hong Kong Diaspora in Digital Media post-2020” (R6972). The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:

  • Conducting filming and sound recording during data collection activities, including screenings, focus groups, and interviews;

  • Organizing, editing, and transcribing collected footage and audio files for the documentary;

  • Working with the Research Team on video archiving, including downloading materials online, visiting physical archives and converting various video materials into conventional digital formats; and

  • Undertaking additional tasks in video processing as directed by the Principal Investigator.

Candidates

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:

  • Level 2 or above in at least five HKDSE subjects, including English Language, Chinese Language and Mathematics, or equivalent qualifications; a recognized degree in Visual Arts, Film and Television, Journalism or any related field is preferred;

  • Strong organizational and planning skills, as well as good interpersonal and communication abilities;

  • Good team player and self-motivated, capable of meeting deadlines and working independently;

  • Competency in audiovisual software, including Adobe Suite (Premiere Pro, Audition, Photoshop, After Effects), Final Cut Pro, and DaVinci Resolve;

  • Experience in filming, sound recording, video editing and digital conversion is an advantage; and

  • Fluency in both English and Chinese languages is essential.

 

Terms and Conditions for Appointment

Successful candidate will be appointed on a temporary part-time contract.  Payment will be made on hourly basis. Benefits will be provided in accordance with the statutory provisions, if applicable. Candidates will be normally assigned to work less than 68 hours per four consecutive weeks for the period between December 2026 and April 2027.
