Victoria Shanghai Academy (www.vsa.edu.hk) is a private independent, non-denominational, co-educational school authorized to deliver three of the International Baccalaureate Programmes. VSA is now recruiting an enthusiastic and committed person for the above position.
Key Responsibilities:
Music and Theatre curricula (Teaching & Learning)
Lighting and sound support for student performances and assessments
Assisting teachers with sound and lighting in lessons (MYP and DP)
Assist with sound recordings of music performances
Training teachers and students in using lighting and sound equipment
Working closely with teachers and classes to facilitate theatre units, projects, planning and procurement of materials, tools and equipment.
Assisting with Performing Arts after school activities as needed.
Support with Events
Assisting with secondary events such as productions and performances, and concerts (both small and large scale) including spaces, materials and equipment
Liaising with teachers, the VSA AV team and other organisers of events
Department support of spaces and equipment
Overseeing, tracking and maintenance of music and theatre equipment
Assisting with procurement
Keeping rooms organised and tidy
Keep track and update systems (such as room booking systems & display screens)
Other duties relating to the Performing Arts and whole Secondary Arts department as they arise.
Requirements:
Post-secondary certificate or diploma preferred (Theatre / Music / Media or related field)
Secondary school completion (HKDSE or equivalent) as a minimum
Prior school or education-related experience
IT literacy (comfortable with computers, classroom tech, and common creative software)
Excellent communication skills. Very high level of English language proficiency is required. Cantonese / Mandarin is helpful but not essential
Strong knowledge and experience of Theatre Lighting, Audio and Video Equipment
Ability to design lighting and operate cameras, tripods, microphones
File management and backup skills (shared drives, cloud storage, naming conventions)
Willingness to liaise with central IT/AV teams, log tickets, and follow school IT policies (accounts, data privacy, copyright)
Ability to work both independently and with teams
Strong time management, ability to take initiative and follow through with projects and tasks
Agile and flexible willingness to do tasks as the need arises
High energy can operate in a busy / unpredictable environment in a fast paced, varied role
Required to support performing arts evening events
