PROJECT ENGINEER MECHANICAL - European MNC energy engineering group (Tuen Mun Power Station)

ROLE MISSION

• Support the successful execution of mechanical and piping works for major power station projects in Hong Kong.

• Ensure all site work is carried out safely, on schedule, and in line with project requirements and quality standards.

• Work closely with the project team, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to deliver smooth field execution.

ROLE SUMMARY

• You will support site execution for mechanical and piping systems.

• The role requires strong technical knowledge, good coordination skills, and hands-on experience in mechanical and piping construction.

• Experience in live plant, process industry, high-pressure gas, or power plant projects is highly preferred.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Assist the Project Manager with day-to-day project planning and coordination.

• Support resource planning and work closely with the QHSE team.

• Coordinate and manage subcontractor works, including schedule control, manpower planning, quality control, and cost control.

• Plan and supervise the installation, alignment, testing, and pre-commissioning of mechanical equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, and tanks.

• Oversee piping works and ensure all work follows approved drawings, project specifications, and relevant codes and standards.

• Prepare or review method statements and work procedures for construction activities.

• Monitor daily site progress, quality, and subcontractor productivity.

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.

• Solve technical and engineering issues on site with support from the design team, vendors, and subcontractors.

• Ensure strict compliance with site safety rules, Permit-to-Work systems, and Hong Kong occupational safety requirements.

• Coordinate with Civil, Structural, and E&I teams to ensure smooth work progress and proper interface management.

• Liaise with client representatives, consultants, and equipment vendors when required.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Bachelor’s degree or higher diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

• At least 5 years of hands-on site experience in mechanical and piping construction.

• Experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or related process industries is preferred.

• Experience in natural gas projects, such as pipelines, meter stations, terminals, or processing facilities, is highly preferred.

• Good knowledge of construction sequence, heavy equipment handling, and interface management.

• Familiar with mechanical and piping design codes such as ASME and API.

• Able to read isometric drawings, general arrangement drawings, and P&ID drawings.

• Knowledge of welding, NDE methods, and pressure testing procedures.

• Good spoken Cantonese, and good written and spoken English.

• Knowledge of Hong Kong occupational safety and health regulations is an advantage.
