PURCHASING MANAGER – electronics manufacturing - HK listed EMS company (Vietnam)

ROLE MISSION

• To lead the purchasing team in Vietnam and ensure a stable supply of materials and indirect items to support daily factory operations and continuous production.

• You will manage supplier performance, support local sourcing, improve cost and delivery performance, and work closely with internal teams in Vietnam and China.

ROLE SUMMARY

• This is a managerial purchasing role based in Vietnam, supporting the company’s electronics manufacturing operations.

• You will lead the Business Unit purchasing team to manage material sourcing, order fulfilment, supplier performance and localisation of BOM and indirect items in Northern Vietnam.

• You will work closely with production, planning, engineering, quality, logistics and other internal teams in Vietnam and China to ensure materials are available on time, at the right quality and cost.

• This role is suitable for an experienced purchasing professional with strong knowledge of electronics manufacturing, supplier management and Asia Pacific factory operations.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Lead the Business Unit purchasing team in Vietnam to support daily factory operations.

• Ensure timely order fulfilment and material supply to sustain production runs.

• Localise BOM items and indirect materials in Northern Vietnam.

• Source, evaluate and develop local and overseas suppliers.

• Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery terms and other commercial conditions with suppliers.

• Monitor and improve supplier performance in quality, on-time delivery, cost, responsiveness and service level.

• Work closely with internal departments in Vietnam and China to align purchasing needs, production schedules and material requirements.

• Coordinate with planning, production, engineering, quality and logistics teams to resolve material shortages, quality issues and delivery delays.

• Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier information and cost data.

• Support cost-reduction projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Facilitate supplier and factory audits, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, IATF 16949, C-TPAT and FSC.

• Ensure purchasing activities follow company policies, procedures and compliance requirements.

• Perform other duties and ad-hoc projects as assigned.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Tertiary education or above in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

• At least 7 years of relevant purchasing experience, including at least 4 years at managerial level.

• Experience in the electronics manufacturing industry, preferably in an EMS environment.

• Familiar with factory operations in Asia Pacific countries.

• Strong experience in order fulfilment and material sourcing.

• Good knowledge of supplier management, cost negotiation and procurement processes.

• Strong team player with good communication and coordination skills.

• Proficient in English and Chinese, including Mandarin.
