ROLE PURPOSE

• Lead and improve the purchasing function to ensure a stable, cost-effective and flexible supply of materials for factory operations and business growth.

ROLE SUMMARY

• This is a senior management position reporting to the Director of Supply Chain Management.

• You will lead a Purchasing team of 15-20 staff members.

• You will manage the full purchasing function across the region.

• You will oversee strategic sourcing, supplier management, cost reduction and material availability.

• You will manage supply-chain risks and help prevent material shortages and supply disruptions.

• You will improve purchasing procedures, systems and overall operational efficiency.

• You will develop team members and build a professional, motivated and high-performing Purchasing organisation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the Purchasing team and ensure a smooth supply of materials for daily factory operations.

• Develop purchasing strategies to improve cost, efficiency, flexibility and service levels.

• Monitor supplier performance in quality, delivery, cost and responsiveness.

• Work with suppliers to resolve problems and drive continuous improvement.

• Regularly review and improve the Approved Vendor List (AVL).

• Review supplier lead times and develop a strong and reliable supplier base.

• Establish and manage Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programmes with key, high-volume suppliers.

• Reduce inventory costs while maintaining material availability.

• Organise annual supplier conferences to share business forecasts, demand plans and company strategies.

• Develop cost-reduction programmes for direct and indirect materials.

• Achieve savings without affecting product quality or delivery performance.

• Standardise purchasing procedures between the Hong Kong and China teams.

• Ensure purchasing activities follow company policies and control requirements.

• Develop contingency and risk-management plans to prevent material shortages and supply disruptions.

• Lead team training, talent development, succession planning and performance management.

• Build a professional, motivated and high-performing Purchasing organisation.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

• University degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management or a related discipline.

• At least 8 years of experience in purchasing, procurement or supply-chain management.

• At least 5 years of management experience in the electronics manufacturing industry.

• Strong experience in order fulfilment, material sourcing and strategic supplier management.

• Good knowledge of mechanical, electronic and electromechanical components, including market prices and supplier capabilities.

• Good communications in English and Chinese, including Putonghua.

• A practical, results-oriented and collaborative leadership style.

• Strong ability to improve existing processes and lead organisational change.

• A proven record of building and developing effective purchasing teams.
