We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the Wu Jieh Yee School of Arts and Social Sciences:
Senior Lecturer/ Lecturer (English for Academic Purposes) (A&SS) (Ref: 260020O)
Major Duties and Responsibilities
The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:
Redeveloping, coordinating, and delivering English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses (especially academic writing and presentation skills), at the undergraduate level;
Managing a team of teaching staff for these courses, ensuring consistency, quality, and professional development;
Leading and coordinating course;
Developing and updating course materials;
Contributing to curriculum enhancement, programme promotion, student advising, and English language support services across the School;
Engaging in scholarly and outreach activities;
Participating in Department/School/University activities; and
Performing any other duties as assigned by the Dean (A&SS) or his/her nominee(s).
Candidates
Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:
A higher degree, preferably a doctorate, in Applied Linguistics, TESOL, or a related discipline;
An excellent command of written and spoken English;
Substantial experience of teaching core EAP courses at tertiary level, including course leadership or coordination;
Proven ability to lead a teaching team, maintain high standards under pressure, and work effectively with academic and administrative colleagues;
Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a demonstrable commitment to teaching excellence;
A track record of scholarly or professional activities in EAP or related areas;
Experience of embedding technologies, AI literacies, and digital assessment practices into curricula is an added advantage.
The level of appointment depends on the candidate’s academic background, experience and competence in academic leadership, teaching, research, scholarly publications, etc.

An attractive remuneration package, including basic salary, an end-of-contract gratuity, and a discretionary incentive payment, where applicable, will be offered to the right candidates.
