We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the Wu Jieh Yee School of Arts and Social Sciences:

Senior Lecturer / Lecturer (Translation) (A&SS) (Ref: 260021U)

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following: 

  • Developing, coordinating, and delivering courses in practical translation, translation studies, research and AI skills (translation), and/or translation technology at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;

  • Contributing to curriculum enhancement, programme promotion, and student advising;

  • Engaging in scholarly and outreach activities;

  • Participating in Department/School/University activities; and

  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the Dean (A&SS) or his/her nominee(s)

 

 

Candidates

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:

  • A higher degree, preferably a doctorate, in Translation or a related discipline;

  • An excellent command of Chinese (both Cantonese and Putonghua) and English;

  • Substantial teaching/professional experience, including programme development and course administration;

  • A track record of scholarly or professional activities in translation or related areas; and

  • Readiness to contribute to new aspects of the translation provision, together with familiarity with current trends and future developments in the field, is an added advantage.

The level of appointment depends on the candidate’s academic background, experience and competence in academic leadership, teaching, research, scholarly publications, etc.

An attractive remuneration package, including basic salary, an end-of-contract gratuity, and a discretionary incentive payment, where applicable, will be offered to the right candidates.
