SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEERING MANAGER (50K-60K) – ODM Electronics Manufacturer (Kwun Tong/Dongguan)

ROLE MISSION

• Lead the Mechanical Engineering team in Dongguan.

• Deliver reliable, easy-to-manufacture and cost-effective ODM product designs.

• Manage projects from concept to mass production.

• Turn customer needs into clear, practical engineering solutions.

• Drive improvements in materials, design and manufacturing processes.

ROLE SUMMARY

• Lead, manage and develop the Mechanical Engineering team.

• Act as the main mechanical engineering contact for customers on ODM projects.

• Oversee the full product development cycle from concept to mass production.

• Ensure designs meet performance, quality, cost and manufacturing requirements.

• Work closely with the Electronic Engineering Manager and Software Engineering Manager, as well as other internal teams (Industrial Design, Firmware, Sales, Purchasing, QA and Manufacturing).

• Join weekly conference calls with customers on project status and technical issues.

• Report directly to the Engineering Director.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Lead, coach and mentor the Mechanical Engineering team; set clear goals and development plans.

• Manage mechanical design and development projects from concept to mass production.

• Review customer requirements and turn them into solid, manufacturable product designs.

• Provide technical guidance and practical solutions throughout the product development process.

• Oversee industrial design, mechanical design, DTC, DFX and SLA activities.

• Review mold flow simulation results before tooling starts.

• Suggest design improvements based on tooling, assembly and mass-production needs.

• Ensure designs are suitable for tooling, assembly, testing and high-volume manufacturing.

• Work closely with the Electronic Engineering Manager, Software Engineering Manager and other functions (Industrial Design, Electronics, Firmware, Sales, Purchasing, QA and Manufacturing).

• Communicate with customers on technical requirements, project progress and engineering issues.

• Lead design reviews, engineering discussions and customer meetings.

• Monitor project schedules and identify technical risks early.

• Take quick action to solve design and manufacturing problems.

• Promote new materials, technologies and better manufacturing methods.

• Support cost reduction, product improvement and efficiency projects.

• Ensure all engineering deliverables meet customer specs and company quality standards.

• Provide regular project and team updates to the Engineering Director.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

• 10–15 years’ experience in mechanical engineering and product development.

• At least 4 years’ experience leading a Mechanical Engineering team.

• Strong project management and new product development experience.

• Proven track record from design concept to tooling, trial run and mass production.

• Good knowledge of mechanical design, DFX, tooling and manufacturing processes.

• Experience with mold flow simulation and design-for-manufacturing principles.

• Experience in household appliances, industrial power-control products or similar electronic products is a strong plus.

• Background in ODM or OEM electronics manufacturing.

• Strong customer-facing and technical communication skills.

• Good written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese / Mandarin).
