TECHNICAL MANAGER - Diesel Generator Set Assembly Workshop / Power Solutions Manufacturing Factory (Yuen Long)

• Our Yuen Long workshop serves as a dedicated assembly and testing facility for tailor-made diesel generator sets. Supported by in-house technical expertise, the workshop is responsible for assembling, testing, inspecting, troubleshooting, and preparing generator sets for delivery.

• The workshop plays an important role in ensuring technical compliance, maintaining product quality, improving engineering and assembly efficiency, supporting customised customer requirements, and delivering reliable generator sets on schedule.

Role Mission

• Lead and manage the technical and engineering activities of the Yuen Long workshop to ensure tailor-made diesel generator sets and related power systems are designed, configured, assembled, tested, inspected, and delivered in accordance with customer requirements, technical specifications, applicable standards, quality expectations, budget, and project schedules.

• Provide strong technical leadership across the product and project lifecycle, from reviewing customer requirements and technical drawings through to assembly support, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and final product release.

• Drive continuous improvement in technical standards, engineering processes, testing methods, product quality, reliability, safety, and workshop capability. Through effective technical guidance and cross-functional coordination, you will support the delivery of dependable and high-quality power solutions to customers.

Role Summary

• Oversee the technical and engineering aspects of tailor-made diesel generator sets and related power systems in the Yuen Long workshop.

• Report to the Chief Operating Officer and lead a team of approximately 30 employees, including technical, assembly, testing, and workshop personnel.

• Review customer requirements, project specifications, technical drawings, equipment selections, system configurations, testing requirements, and delivery schedules.

• Provide technical direction and hands-on support for generator set assembly, wiring, component installation, testing, troubleshooting, inspection, commissioning, and final preparation for delivery.

• Work closely with Engineering, Project, Sales, Quality, Procurement, Supply Chain, Logistics, and customers to ensure smooth technical execution from project initiation to final delivery.

• Take responsibility for technical accuracy, product quality, system performance, testing standards, troubleshooting effectiveness, delivery support, workplace safety, and team development.

• Experience in diesel generator sets, power-generation equipment, or related power solutions would be a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical execution of tailor-made diesel generator sets, including engines, alternators, control panels, enclosures, fuel systems, exhaust systems, cooling systems, electrical wiring, and related power components.

• Review customer requirements, project specifications, technical drawings, single-line diagrams, equipment data sheets, load requirements, applicable standards, and other technical documentation.

• Confirm that generator set configurations, component selections, interfaces, wiring, protection systems, and assembly requirements are technically appropriate and meet project and customer requirements.

• Provide technical guidance to workshop teams during assembly, installation, wiring, testing, inspection, commissioning, and final product preparation.

• Prepare, review, and improve technical documents, including assembly instructions, wiring information, testing procedures, inspection checklists, commissioning records, and product documentation.

• Liaise with Engineering and Project teams to clarify technical requirements, resolve design or interface issues, and ensure that approved designs can be implemented effectively in the workshop.

• Support the review and introduction of new products, customised generator configurations, control systems, technical solutions, and engineering improvements.

• Establish and maintain suitable testing and inspection procedures for engines, alternators, control panels, electrical systems, protection functions, alarms, fuel systems, exhaust systems, and overall generator set performance.

• Ensure completed generator sets undergo the required testing, inspection, commissioning checks, performance verification, and final technical approval before shipment or delivery.

• Investigate technical problems, assembly defects, testing failures, equipment abnormalities, product non-conformities, and customer complaints.

• Conduct root-cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurring technical and quality issues.

• Provide hands-on troubleshooting support for electrical, mechanical, control, wiring, starting, charging, cooling, fuel, exhaust, and load-related problems.

• Support site installation, testing, commissioning, servicing, and technical problem resolution when required.

• Provide technical advice and support to customers, contractors, project teams, service engineers, and internal departments.

• Ensure technical activities comply with internal quality standards, ISO requirements, approved specifications, relevant industry standards, and applicable statutory and safety regulations.

• Work with the Quality team to manage technical documentation, non-conformities, corrective actions, audits, inspection records, and product release requirements.

• Identify opportunities to improve product reliability, technical performance, testing accuracy, maintainability, safety, and customer satisfaction.

• Improve engineering and workshop processes to reduce rework, testing failures, delays, material loss, technical errors, and unnecessary operating costs.

• Maintain proper control of technical changes, design revisions, component substitutions, and customer-specific modifications.

• Lead, supervise, coach, and develop a team of approximately 30 technical, testing, assembly, and workshop employees.

• Provide technical training, guidance, and knowledge transfer to workshop and service personnel.

• Promote a strong culture of technical discipline, problem-solving, quality awareness, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

• Ensure a safe working environment and full compliance with occupational health, safety, environmental, fire-safety, and operational requirements.

• Perform other technical, engineering, workshop-support, and operational duties as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer.

Ideal Candidate

• Tertiary education in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.

• More than 5 years of experience in technical management, engineering management, project engineering, product engineering, workshop engineering, service engineering, or a similar supervisory or leadership role in a manufacturing, engineering, or power-related environment.

• Solid practical knowledge of diesel generator sets, power-generation equipment, engines, alternators, control panels, electrical systems, industrial machinery, or related power solutions.

• Strong understanding of generator set configuration, mechanical and electrical integration, assembly processes, wiring, testing procedures, commissioning, troubleshooting, quality inspection, and final technical approval.

• Able to interpret technical drawings, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, product specifications, equipment data sheets, assembly requirements, testing procedures, and project documentation.

• Experience in reviewing or preparing technical documents, work instructions, testing protocols, inspection records, commissioning documents, and equipment manuals.

• Familiarity with quality management systems, including ISO 9001, internal quality procedures, corrective and preventive actions, non-conformity management, and audit requirements.

• Practical, hands-on, and capable of diagnosing and resolving complex technical, product, and workshop problems effectively.

• Experience in site installation, equipment commissioning, field troubleshooting, or customer technical support would be an advantage.

• Strong leadership, communication, coordination, planning, decision-making, analytical, and people-management skills.

• Able to work closely with customers, contractors, suppliers, engineers, technicians, and internal departments.

• Able to work under pressure and meet tight project deadlines without compromising technical standards, safety, or product quality.

• Proficient in English and Cantonese or Mandarin.
