Duties
 
The appointee will work with a team of professional librarians and support staff to deliver quality library services to support the University’s research and learning initiatives.  He/She will be required to:  
 
(a) develop and advance the Library’s information and AI literacy programmes by collaborating with Faculty to integrate AI literacy and emerging technologies into the curriculum;
 
(b) provide reference services, in-depth instructional and consultation services for students and Faculty on finding, using, managing and evaluating information, with an emphasis on ethical application of AI tools in research and learning;
 
(c) advise and support researchers across the research lifecycle, from utilising AI-powered and citation management tools, to optimise research dissemination, preservation, and impact, while developing innovative digital services to support the University’s research initiatives;
 
(d) collaboratively create multimedia instructional content, such as online guides and videos, to enhance the Library’s e-learning support, strategically leveraging AI tools where appropriate;
 
(e) serve as the Faculty Librarian for the assigned Faculty/School, conducting targeted outreach and needs assessment to align Library services and collection development (print and digital) with Faculty teaching and research priorities; and
 
(f) perform any other duties as assigned by the University Librarian or her delegates.
 
Qualifications
 
Applicants should have:
 
(a) a recognised degree with a postgraduate qualification in Library Science or Information Science or a related discipline;
 
(b) at least five years of relevant professional and supervisory experience, preferably in an academic library setting with involvement in AI-related projects or initiatives;
 
(c) a proven track record in library instruction and reference services, with AI literacy and the ability to apply AI tools in a research context;
 
(d) familiarity with the academic research environment, demonstrated by the ability to effectively communicate emerging trends in AI literacy, open science and open access, and research impact metrics;
 
(e) excellent instructional, communication and interpersonal skills; and
 
(f) a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.

Conditions of Service
 
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
