Manager / Assistant Manager, Communications and Public Affairs (Gallery) (Ref. 260728005-IE)
 
Duties
 
The appointee will be required to play an active role in overseeing the overall operations of the University Gallery.  He/She will be required to:
 
(a) manage the day-to-day operations of the University Gallery;
 
(b) perform the role of a docent, manage and train a pool of student docents, handle guided visits and public tour requests from other units;
 
(c) effectively manage the University Gallery’s content updates and artefacts;
 
(d) coordinate with suppliers, stakeholders and consultants on matters related to the University Gallery, including but not limited to sourcing materials, interior design, hardware updates and content for exhibition displays;
 
(e) oversee the Content Management System (CMS) to ensure accuracy and positive user experience; and
 
(f) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Office or her delegates.
 
Qualifications
 
Applicants should:
 
(a) have a recognised degree in Language Studies, Translation, Communications, Museum Studies or related disciplines;
 
(b) have at least six years of solid experience in a similar role within a museum, gallery experience centre or other related fields;
 
(c) have docent experience and demonstrate expertise in the coordination of visits and content management;
 
(d) have strong proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese, including fluency in English, Cantonese and Putonghua;
 
(e) have good computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office and PowerPoint;
 
(f) have the ability to build close working relationships across teams and the ability to engage stakeholders;
 
(g) be attentive to details with strong organisational skills; and
 
(h) be self-motivated, able to work independently and under pressure to meet tight timelines.
 
Applicants with less experience may be considered for the post of Assistant Manager.
 
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.
 

Conditions of Service
 
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
