WATCH SENIOR MERCHANDISER – Costing & Quotation – European WATCH trading, sourcing & production management co (Lai Chi Kok)

ROLE MISSION

• You will ensure that supplier quotations and customer prices are accurate, competitive and commercially profitable.

• You will review watch component costs, compare factory quotations, negotiate with suppliers, and support the sales team in preparing profitable quotations for ODM and OEM watch projects.

• You will also act as an internal control for the sales team’s quotations to vendor factories, ensuring that every quotation is profitable and protects the company’s commercial interests.

ROLE SUMMARY

• This is an individual contributor role for an experienced watch professional.

• You will work closely with sales team, factories and suppliers to review the costs of watch components, including cases, movements, dials, hands, crystals, straps, bracelets, packaging and related items.

• Your key responsibilities will include watch component knowledge and pricing, costing, pricing, margin calculation, quotation preparation, supplier price comparison and negotiation.

• You will review and control quotations prepared by the sales team for vendor factories, ensuring that prices, margins, terms and commercial conditions are reasonable, consistent and in the company’s best interest.

• You will also support and train the sales team to understand supplier quotations, watch component costs, margins and pricing structures.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Prepare and review quotations for ODM and OEM watch projects

• Act as an internal control for the sales team’s quotations to vendor factories

• Review sales-team quotations to ensure that product costs, margins, selling prices and commercial terms are profitable and protect the company’s interests

• Ensure that quotations issued to customers and factories are accurate, consistent and commercially sound

• Analyse supplier quotations and the cost breakdown of major watch components

• Review prices for watch cases, movements, dials, hands, crystals, straps, bracelets, buckles, packaging and other accessories

• Verify that supplier quotations match the required product specifications

• Compare quotations from different factories and suppliers on a like-for-like basis

• Clarify quotation assumptions, exclusions, additional charges and commercial terms with factories

• Negotiate competitive prices, tooling charges, sample fees, minimum order quantities and other commercial terms with suppliers

• Assess the impact of order quantity, product specifications, materials, packaging and development requirements on the final price

• Calculate product cost, project-related costs, company margin and customer selling price

• Support the sales team in reviewing customer enquiries and preparing accurate, competitive and profitable quotations

• Train and guide the sales team on watch component costs, supplier quotations, margins and pricing structures

• Identify cost-saving opportunities through supplier comparison, price negotiation and specification review

• Maintain accurate costing records, quotation files, supplier price comparisons and historical pricing data

• Maintain quotation comparison templates and costing databases

• Monitor changes in supplier pricing and watch component costs

IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Minimum 5 years of solid experience in the watch industry, with strong knowledge of watch components and their pricing

• In-depth understanding of watch cases, movements, dials, hands, crystals, straps, bracelets, buckles, packaging and other accessories

• Able to review component specifications, materials, construction and production methods, and assess whether supplier prices are reasonable

• Solid experience in costing, pricing, quotation preparation and margin calculation

• Strong knowledge of supplier pricing, cost breakdowns, tooling charges, sample fees and minimum order quantities

• Able to analyse supplier quotations, identify cost differences and challenge unclear or additional charges

• Able to compare factory quotations on a like-for-like basis

• Able to review quotations critically, safeguard profit margins and protect the company’s commercial interests

• Commercially minded, with strong numerical, costing and analytical skills

• Good understanding of margins, costing methods and pricing structures

• Proficient in written and spoken English; Mandarin is an advantage

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other standard office applications
