現今什麼也說科技，就連找工作也要以科技配合，不是叫你天馬行空去做些創意自薦短片，而是如何善用科技更容易找到適合自己的工作，同時營造正面的形象。 我們首要的是要管理好自己在網上的形象，所謂水能載舟亦能覆舟，網絡已非只是玩樂的地方，更加是展示自己的平台，無論你是自願還是被動。有美國調查訪問了2,700名負責招聘的高層，發現45%的受訪者會運用不同的網上工具去「起底」，而他們起出的資料多數來自大家熟悉的社交媒體，包括Facebook、Twitter、MySpace、個人網誌等。被「起底」的人之中，約三成會因此被淘汰。 有些公司甚至會用一些網上搜尋器，透過人名、電話、電郵等，搜尋出很多「精彩」的內容，如名為Spokeo的搜尋器就網羅超過60個社交網絡的內容。故此，定期清理自己的各個平台，同時加強私隱設定是必需的，以準備未來或潛在僱主隨時查看你個人履歷（Portfolio）的可能。 為此，求職者可以刻意營造適合自己行業的個性，例如在自己的平台上多分享行業新聞、多引述行內專家的說話，相片方面也可選些適合自己專業形象的去發放。而擁有多個平台的求職者，最好就將各平台的姓名、相片、風格統一一下，讓人感到一致。 所謂知己知彼，求職者同樣可透過招聘企業的公司網站及各個社交平台，認識公司的文化、價值觀及最新動向，以了解應聘公司，減低信息成本。

近年，各大網上專業社交平台愈來愈普及，搵工求職的方法亦趨向更多元化。除了傳統的睇招聘廣告再寄履歷表，亦可透過社交媒體主動出擊。Facebook、Twitter及LinkedIn都是香港人熱門使用的社交平台；當中，LinkedIn以專業人士為對象，筆者不少同事及朋友，不論搵工、物色受訪者、尋找合作伙伴，以至擴大人際網絡等，都會埋首LinkedIn「找對象」。澳洲會計師公會內容管理及社交媒體經理Jillian Bowen於公會早前舉辦的「第十二屆澳洲會計師公會專業推廣日」中，向一眾畢業生分享如何善用社交媒體以增加自己的搵工優勢。   未畢業先開戶 Jillian表示，外國不少專業行業，如金融或資訊科技領域，也會利用LinkedIn作為尋找適合工作人選途徑之一。但在香港的求職市場上，LinkedIn暫時只活躍於個別行業，會計界就是其中之一。本港修讀會計的大學生，普遍還未畢業便會開設LinkedIn賬戶，讓行業內的「人脈」( Connections ) 由讀書時期開始建立。同學們於畢業後進入不同的公司，認識不同的人，大家在LinkedIn的「人脈」便會以倍數增長，從而加強日後運用LinkedIn求職的成功率。

I recently attended the Echelon Tech Conference 2014 held in Singapore.  It is the largest gathering of investors, venture capitalists, private equity funds, incubators and creative entrepreneurs from all over Asia who are passionate about creating and discovering the next generation of disruptive businesses that will change the status quo of business models. The event attracted big guns including representatives from Google, Twitter and AirBnB. Eduardo Saverin, one of the original five co-founders of Facebook, was spotted scouting around the show.

Successful networkers agree that the essential skills can be learned. “I wouldn’t suggest to anybody that the cocktail party is the best place to build deep relationships,” says Keith Pogson, a managing partner at Ernst & Young and past president of the Institute.  “You also need to get involved in sitting on committees or bodies and meeting the people in the room. They will then help you meet other people as well.”
