有些人因為怕說錯了話而不太愛說話，這不能說是慎言，而是因為愈不說話就愈不會說，就算在寥寥幾句話當中也可能出現很多錯誤的地方。說話技巧好比一門藝術，是非常難以捉摸，但我們可以從最簡單的幾句話開始。 It’s hard to say I’m sorry.要數最簡單，但其實卻是最難以啟齒的說話，相信非「對唔住」莫屬。於街上不小心碰撞到其他人講句 ‘sorry’ 係好正常的事，但當對著自已的男女朋友、老闆或其他同事的時候卻往往不能說出口。此非不能也，而是不為也！當身邊都是互不相識的陌生人，心理上沒有任何包袱，所以講句 ‘sorry’ 係好輕鬆及正常的事。但當身邊的都是工作或生活中的一分子的時候，心理包袱開始變得沉重。他們怕被看低或嘲笑，又或怕被其他人看作「認輸」的一種的表現。但這個想法是大錯特錯！其實他們可說是為了面子問題，自知理虧，但卻開不了口。
