The Department of Infectious Diseases and Public Health, Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences at City University of Hong Kong is recruiting a Chair Professor/Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor. The appointee is expected to teach the College’s Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) degree programme, postgraduate courses and develop new research directions and courses. The Department of Infectious Diseases and Public Health consists of a strong multidisciplinary group of researchers and educators whose expertise encompass One Health, an area spanning the health of animals, humans and the environment. Academic fields of particular interest include, but not limited to:

1. Veterinary Medicine

• Poultry Health and Production

• Swine Health and Production

• Ruminant Health and Production

• Veterinary Nutrition

• Animal Welfare and Behaviour

• Veterinary Anatomy

• Veterinary Physiology

2. One Health

• Parasitology

• Epidemiology (veterinary and/or human health)

• Pharmacology (veterinary and/or human)

• Pharmaceutics (veterinary and/or human)

• Virology, Mycology, Bacteriology (veterinary and/or human)

The positions will be appointed on the clinical track or tenure track.

Duties

Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses, conduct cutting edge research, and develop new research directions and courses.

Requirements

A PhD/MD/DVM or an equivalent degree in the broadly-defined areas of veterinary biomedical sciences in the framework of the department’s research. Candidates with strong background in Microbiology/Immunology/Nutrition/Aquaculture/Genomics and Metagenomics/Precision Medicine/Epidemiology/Public Health/Anatomy and Materials Science/Physiology/Pharmacology and Toxicology/Data Science and other biomedical science-related areas are welcome to apply. Preference will be given to qualified candidates whose activities can contribute to multidisciplinary and collaborative research. Candidates must have demonstrable evidence of research success, including a strong publication track record, the ability to obtain research funding, and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of an academic team.

Candidates on the tenure track must demonstrate the ability to establish a world-class research programme that aligns with CityUHK’s strategic research priorities, together with a strong commitment to education and student mentorship. Candidates on the clinical track must possess a specialty qualification that enables registration as a veterinary specialist with the Veterinary Surgeons Board of Hong Kong, or have completed a residency-training programme and be eligible to take final specialty-board examinations.

Candidates for the post of Professor and above should possess a proven record of distinguished scholarly accomplishment including significant external funding support, strong leadership capabilities, and active participation in graduate and undergraduate education.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be driven by market competitiveness and individual performance. Excellent fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes, and relocation assistance (where applicable). Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract.
