Job Requirements:
1. Academic Qualifications & Professional Certifications
Educational Background
Shall hold a bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or a related discipline. Preference is given to candidates with a master’s degree or advanced studies in specialized fields (e.g., cost management, contract law).
Academic Qualifications & Professional Certifications
Preference is given to candidates with Membership of the Quantity Surveying Division of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS, MHKIS) or Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
2. Works Experience
Core Experience Requirements
Shall have at least 8–10 years of experience in quantity surveying or tendering within Hong Kong’s construction industry, including no less than 3-5 years of work experience in the tendering department of a main contractor. Must be familiar with the tendering process, cost strategies and risk management logic of main contractors.
Specialized Experience
Shall have full experience in the end-to-end tendering process, including tender document analysis, Quantity Take-Off (QTO), cost estimation, subcontractor quotation management, tender strategy formulation and final quotation submission.
Preference is given to candidates with experience in subcontract management, Variation Valuation or cost risk assessment — capable of identifying potential cost pitfalls or profit opportunities in tenders.
3. Professional Skills & Knowledge
Skilled in Hong Kong’s local quantity measurement standards (SMM(Civil) or HKQS measurement standards) and tender document preparation specifications (Pricing-related parts)
In-depth understanding of Hong Kong’s construction contract formats, such as HKIA/HA standard contracts, NEC, GCC etc.
4. Soft Skills & Communication Abilities
Shall possess team management skills — able to lead junior valuers or tender assistants in completing assigned tasks, including reviewing work outcomes and providing professional guidance.
Good cross-departmental collaboration skills — able to efficiently coordinate with the engineering & technical department, procurement department and legal department to ensure the technical feasibility and cost rationality of tender proposals.
