Data & Application Engineer (Python, R, SAS, over $40K)

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze existing business workflows, applications, and operational processes in collaboration with stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities and design modernized technology solutions.

• Review, interpret, and assess legacy systems developed in SAS, Python, R, VBA, and other technologies to understand business logic, data dependencies, and operational requirements.

• Lead the migration and modernization of legacy applications to contemporary platforms while ensuring business continuity, functional accuracy, and data integrity.

• Design, develop, and automate data processing workflows using Python, R, workflow automation platforms, and AI-powered solutions.

• Develop reports, dashboards, and data integration solutions utilizing ETL/ELT processes, data virtualization technologies, and modern analytics and reporting tools.

• Leverage AI-assisted development tools for code analysis, conversion, documentation, testing, and productivity enhancement.

• Collaborate closely with business users, data engineering teams, and infrastructure teams to gather requirements, resolve migration challenges, and ensure successful project delivery.

• Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, including application logic, migration methodologies, technical designs, system architecture, and operational procedures.

• Support system deployment, troubleshooting, user acceptance testing (UAT), and knowledge transfer activities to ensure smooth transitions to new platforms.

• Participate in application design reviews, code reviews, architecture discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  

Job Requirements

• Degree or above in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in full-stack software development, covering both front-end and back-end technologies.

• Strong programming expertise in Python, R, SAS, VBA, SQL, and related development frameworks. (Mandatory)

• Proven experience in application migration, system modernization, code conversion, and data processing projects.

• Hands-on experience in analyzing, maintaining, and transforming legacy applications while preserving business functionality and operational requirements.

• Solid experience with relational databases, data warehousing, and data integration solutions.

• Experience with ETL/ELT processes, reporting tools, data visualization, and data virtualization technologies will be an advantage.

• Understanding of infrastructure architecture, virtualization technologies, and containerization platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes is preferred.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

• Proven ability to participate in technical discussions, conduct code reviews, and contribute to solution and system design activities.
