Duties
The appointee will be required to:
(a) assist in planning and organising events and activities of the University and the Research Centre for Chinese History and Culture relating to the promotion of Chinese culture, such as the PolyU Chinese Culture Festival, summer camps, seminars, academic conferences, etc;
(b) maintain the departmental website and the mailing system;
(c) provide secretarial support to committees and the related working groups and/or committees;
(d) support the office administration, including handling purchasing matters and procurement procedures;
(e) perform counter duties and answer general enquiries;
(f) liaise effectively with the University’s internal and external stakeholders; and
(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department and the Director of the Centre, or their delegates.
The appointee may be required to work outside normal office hours and/or travel outside Hong Kong.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have a recognised degree or an equivalent qualification plus not less than one year of relevant work experience;
(b) have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua;
(c) be proficient in computer skills, including the use of the internet, social media platforms and MS Office applications;
(d) have practical knowledge of graphic design and multimedia tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator);
(e) be pleasant and have a positive attitude in customer service;
(f) be proactive and able to implement plans independently and work under pressure; and
(g) be a good team player.
Preference will be given to those with work experience in tertiary institutions or similar organisations.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
