Fashion Design & Product Development Coordinator - US fashion garment brand owner (TST)

Role Mission

• The mission of this role is to support our Design & Development team in transforming seasonal concepts and creative direction into well-developed, commercially relevant apparel products.

• You will connect our US design team, Hong Kong Design & Development team, suppliers, development partners, and production teams. You will help ensure that fabrics, trims, samples, design information, and development timelines are coordinated accurately and efficiently from concept through to production.

Role Summary

• Reporting to the Head of Design & Development, you will join our Hong Kong Design & Development team and work closely with designers at our New York headquarters to develop concepts and source inspiration for seasonal collections.

• This is a hands-on coordination role suited to an organized, fashion-conscious, and detail-oriented professional with a solid understanding of the apparel development process. You will support material sourcing, sample development, design documentation, supplier communication, and cross-functional follow-up while managing multiple projects and deadlines.

Job Description

• Collaborate with designers at our US headquarters to develop seasonal concepts and source creative inspiration for design collections.

• Research fashion trends, consumer preferences, market demands, colour direction, silhouettes, fabrics, trims, and relevant product developments.

• Stay informed about current US, European, and international fashion trends to support design decisions and collection direction.

• Assist in translating creative concepts and design direction into commercially relevant apparel products.

• Research and source fabrics, trims, embellishments, labels, packaging components, and other materials according to design requirements.

• Coordinate with mills, suppliers, vendors, and development partners to secure suitable, high-quality, and cost-effective components.

• Coordinate the production of prototypes, development samples, fit samples, sales samples, and other product samples.

• Follow up with suppliers, sample rooms, development centres, and factories to ensure samples are completed and delivered according to schedule.

• Review prototypes and samples against design specifications, sketches, technical details, materials, and approved standards.

• Communicate sample comments, design revisions, and required corrections clearly to suppliers and internal teams.

• Ensure prototypes and samples meet the required design specifications and development timelines.

• Maintain accurate design records, including sketches, CADs, tech packs, specifications, material details, sample comments, and approval records.

• Organize and update design files, sample images, fabric and trim information, and seasonal development archives.

• Maintain development trackers, sample calendars, approval records, and relevant project information.

• Act as a key contact point between the Design, Product Development, Technical, Sourcing, Merchandising, and Production teams.

• Coordinate closely with the US design team, Hong Kong office, South China development centre, suppliers, and manufacturing partners.

• Follow up on development progress, sample submissions, approvals, deliveries, and project deadlines.

• Travel to Mainland China as required.

Ideal Candidate

• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in apparel development, fashion design coordination, product development, garment development, or a related field.

• Studies in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Textile Design, Product Development, or a related discipline is preferred.

• Solid understanding of the apparel development process from concept and material sourcing through to prototypes, samples, and production.

• Good knowledge of fabrics, trims, garment construction, sampling, suppliers, and apparel manufacturing.

• Experience working with overseas designers, international fashion brands, suppliers, or production partners is an advantage.

• Strong fashion awareness and a good understanding of consumer preferences, market trends, and commercial product requirements.

• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.

• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills for effective coordination with designers, suppliers, development teams, and production partners.

• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, including Mandarin and Cantonese.
