Responsibilities
- Review agreements, MOUs, and undertakings between various University offices and external institutions or organizations
- Assist in formulating, reviewing and making recommendations on the University’s policies and procedures, legal solutions and compliance matters
- Serve as the primary liaison with external legal advisors; including managing matter intake, scoping, instructions, and ongoing communications
- Advise on the engagement and management of external legal service providers
- Support the University’s personal data management programme and operations in coordination with the Data Protection Officers and various offices
- Advise on data governance matters, including data retention, consent management, and privacy notice requirements
- Support dispute resolution, including responding to complaints, pre-action correspondence, mediation, and engagement with external counsel where appropriate
- Support internal investigations, including evidence preservation and responses to regulatory inquiries; and
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- A qualified lawyer in Hong Kong with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience in reputable law firms or inhouse legal team of large institutions or companies
- Experience in and knowledge of general corporate legal matters would be an advantage
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and under pressure
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities effectively
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua)
- Good IT literacy
Candidates with less/more experience will be considered for appointment at a relevant rank.
Salary and Benefits
Commencing salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits, where applicable, include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund and gratuity.
