We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Arts and Social Sciences: 

Part-time Research Assistant I/II (R6972) (A&SS) (Ref: 26001QZ)

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will assist Principal Investigator in the research project “Towards a Canto-Pacific Imagination: Narrating Hong Kong Diaspora in Digital Media post-2020” (R6972).  The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:

• Assisting in data collection activities, including screening, focus groups, and interviews;

• Organizing, indexing and maintaining data collected from activities;

• Sourcing and gathering both digital and physical materials for the project’s video archive;

• Working with the Research Team to support the logistics of documentary filming and sound recording; and

• Undertaking additional research and administrative tasks as directed by the Principal Investigator.

Candidates

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence: 

• A Master’s degree or above in Creative Arts, Media and Communication, Cultural Studies, or any related field (for Part-time Research Assistant I);

• A Bachelor’s degree in Creative Arts, Media and Communication, Cultural Studies, or any related field (for Part-time Research Assistant II);

• Strong organizational and planning skills, as well as good interpersonal and communication abilities;

• Good team player and self-motivated, capable of meeting deadlines and working independently;

• Competency in computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic skills in photography, photo editing, and video editing;

• Proficiency in both English and Chinese languages is essential; and

• Prior research experience will be an advantage, such as participation in academic conferences or work as a Research Assistant.

Terms and Conditions for Appointment

Successful candidate will be appointed on a temporary part-time contract. Payment will be made on hourly basis. Benefits will be provided in accordance with the statutory provisions, if applicable. Candidate will be normally assigned to work less than 68 hours per four consecutive weeks for the period between September 2026 and June 2027.
