• We are the Hong Kong buying office of a well-established U.S.-based company. We specialise in travel goods, including luggage, travel bags, backpacks and travel accessories, serving customers across the United States and international markets.

• Our products are sold through major retailers, department stores, specialty stores, online platforms and other distribution channels. We are known for delivering functional, durable and well-designed travel products that meet the needs of different customer groups and market segments.

• The Hong Kong office plays a key role in the company’s Asia operations. We support sourcing, product development, production follow-up, quality management, shipping and supplier coordination. We work closely with colleagues in the United States, factories, vendors, freight forwarders and business partners across Asia.

• Our team works with suppliers and factories in Asia to develop and deliver products that meet brand standards, customer expectations, target costs, quality requirements and delivery schedules.

ROLE MISSION

• To develop functional, attractive and commercially viable travel goods collections, including luggage, travel bags, backpacks and travel accessories, from concept to final samples.

• You will work closely with designers, product development colleagues, factories and suppliers to ensure that samples meet design intent, quality standards, target costs and delivery schedules.

ROLE SUMMARY

• This is a hands-on product development role focusing on travel goods, luggage, travel bags, backpacks and travel accessories.

• You will manage product development from initial concept through proto samples, salesman samples and pre-production preparation.

• You will work closely with overseas designers, internal product development and merchandising teams, factories and material suppliers. You will also provide technical advice, manage sample progress, review quality and construction, and negotiate target prices with vendors.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Work closely with designers, product development colleagues, factories and suppliers to develop travel goods collections from concept to samples.

• Manage the development of luggage, travel bags, backpacks and travel accessories.

• Follow up on development and sample production schedules to ensure timely delivery of good-quality samples.

• Check sample standards, colours, materials, construction and workmanship at every stage.

• Ensure samples are consistent with the design direction, colour standards and quality requirements of each collection.

• Provide technical advice to factories and suppliers to solve product development and sampling issues.

• Review product construction, production methods, materials, hardware and hard-side luggage requirements to ensure products are practical, durable and suitable for mass production.

• Negotiate and manage target pricing with vendors to ensure commercial viability and profit margins.

• Work with the merchandising team on bulk production order details and hand over development information smoothly.

• Keep accurate records of sample status, comments, revisions, costs and development progress.

• Build and maintain good working relationships with factories, suppliers and internal teams.

• Travel to factories and suppliers in Asia when required.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

• At least 8 years of product development experience in branded luggage, travel bags, backpacks and travel accessories.

• Experience working directly with overseas designers for product development execution and sampling.

• Strong technical knowledge of the construction and production processes of luggage, travel bags, backpacks and travel accessories.

• Good knowledge of materials, including fabrics, PU, hardware and hard-side luggage.

• Familiar with travel goods and travel accessories fashion and market trends.

• Able to review samples carefully and provide practical technical solutions.

• Good negotiation, communication and problem-solving skills.

• A positive team player who can work well with designers, factories and internal teams.

• Good command of English and Chinese, with good spoken Putonghua.

• Willing to travel to factories and suppliers.
