The Department of Geography and Resource Management at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is inviting applications for the post of Professor/ Associate Professor/ Assistant Professor.
Applicants should possess (i) a doctoral degree; (ii) a strong academic background in one or more of the following fields: urban finance, urban planning, or urban governance; and (iii) an outstanding record of research and scholarly achievement commensurate with their career stage, demonstrating research excellence and strong potential for international impact. Relevant professional qualifications and/or professional standing (e.g. membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), or equivalent professional bodies), and teaching experience in relevant fields, will be advantageous.
The appointee will be expected to: (a) teach courses and contribute to curriculum development at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels in urban finance, urban planning, urban governance, and related fields; (b) conduct high-quality independent research; (c) collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on relevant research projects; (d) undertake administrative service; and (e) foster engagement and collaboration with professional institutions, public agencies, and industry partners.
Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years initially, with an expected commencement date of August 2027 or as soon as practicable thereafter. A competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. Subject to performance, funding availability, and mutual agreement, the appointment may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation. Outstanding candidates for Professor rank may be specially considered for substantive appointment forthwith.
