We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Arts and Social Sciences: 

Research Assistant II – Unreal Developer (R7073) (A&SS) (Ref: 26001RI)

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The appointees shall mainly assist the research team in a research project “Reimagining the Classics of Chinese Literature: Immersive Experiences of Eileen Chang’s Literary World and Classical Travel Narratives” (Project No.: R7073). The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:

• Constructing 2D/3D assets for the use of the research project;

• Designing and developing immersive experience using Unreal;

• Researching and developing novel 2D/3D visualization and interaction experience with Chinese literature and culture for large-scale immersive display space;

• Assisting the Principal Investigator/supervisors to prepare experiments; and

• Conducting other ad-hoc research activities as instructed by the Principal Investigator.

Candidates

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:

• A Bachelor’s degree or above in Creative/Interactive Media, Computer Science, or any related disciplines;

• Intermediate knowledge of and practical experience with Unreal Engine development, Blueprint scripting, and C++ programming;

• Understanding interactive 3D simulation in virtual / augmented reality or generative AI would be an advantage;

• Fresh graduates are welcome, and candidates who have intention to pursue a research postgraduate degree are preferable;

• Detail-oriented, hardworking, responsible, self-motivated, able to meet deadlines and work independently; and

• Excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese.

An attractive remuneration package, including basic salary, an end-of-contract gratuity, and a discretionary incentive payment, where applicable, will be offered to the right candidates.
