Qualifications:

The minimum qualifications required for the post of Resident Clerk of Works shall be as follows:

  1. Diploma or Higher Certificate in Building Studies or equivalent, and
  2. 8 relevant on-site experience in Hong Kong as a RCOW or relevant construction management role, and
  3. Met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in English Language and Chinese Language in Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE)/ Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or equivalent

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties of the Resident Clerk of Works shall include, but not limited to, the following:

  1. Supervise project(s) assigned to him and carry out duties of a Clerk of Works under the direction of the Consultant including liaison representatives
  2. Carry out routine inspections of the building works and check for conformity with the drawings, specification and contract requirements, and report to the project team non-conforming and unsatisfactory work
  3. Monitor the standard of workmanship against the contract documents and relevant publications as specified by the Consultant
  4. Check samples and related documents against contract requirements and make observations and recommendations to the project team
  5. Check setting out of building elements
  6. Monitor the progress of work on site against the approved programme
  7. Manage the supervisory staff assigned to him, allocate appropriate duties to them, and check the attendance of his staff
  8. Liaise and co-ordinate with the other government departments and public utilities companies for the work on site
  9. Maintain a site record of the daily activities on site and submit monthly returns to relevant parties as required
  10. Monitor environmental, health and safety aspects of the work. Report all non-compliance of safety procedures immediately to the representative and the project team, and record this in the site record book
  11. Submit progress, technical, accident and special reports to the project team as required
  12. Attend client and contractors progress meetings as required
  13. Witness on-site and off-site tests as required by the contract and record the results in the site record book, and attend site inspections performed by others as required
  14. Carry out inspection of defects and outstanding work at the completion of the contract and advise the Consultant status of rectification of defects by the contractor during the Defect Liability Period
  15. Attend site audits and follow up the corrective actions on non-compliance
  16. Carry out such other duties as directed by the Consultant

 

The role will be seconded to the client and under client’s management.
