Department of Sport and Recreation

Major Duties:

The appointee is expected to provide strong academic leadership by contributing to the planning, development, implementation, and review of the academic programmes under the Department of Sport and Recreation.  The appointee will oversee the Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Sports Therapy programme and/or related programme(s) under the Department.  The appointee will also provide strong academic and management leadership in the formulation of learning and teaching strategies, cross-disciplinary curriculum development of programme modules for the academic programmes in the Department, student recruitment, and programme accreditation exercises.

The appointee will take part in teaching and supervising honours projects and student work; delivering high-quality programmes; and leading and participating in scholarly activities, including but not limited to research, consultancy, networking, collaboration with industry, and promoting the Institute and the programmes.  The appointee will also be expected to maintain close contacts with industry, commerce, and other educational institutions on collaborative arrangements to promote and ensure the relevance and excellence of the programmes.

Requirements:

The successful candidate should have a recognised Doctoral degree in Physiotherapy, Sports Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or a related area, with relevant and substantial teaching experience at tertiary level; demonstrated excellent academic and management leadership; strong sports-related industry networks and work experience; a record of achievement in cross-disciplinary research and scholarly activities; and experience in accreditation exercises.  The candidate should have good interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, and a high level of proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua.  A proven record of linkage with industry or professional bodies would be an advantage.  Experience in arranging student internships, supervising honours projects, managing funded projects, and the use of technological devices for teaching and research would also be an advantage.

The appointee should be a registered physiotherapist or sports therapist, or have good potential for registration with the Physiotherapists Board of Hong Kong, or the Society of Sports Therapists (UK), or equivalent.

Notes:

(1) The appointee may be required to perform duties at different sites and outside Hong Kong, and work irregular hours, shifts and on Saturdays and Sundays, as necessary.
(2) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
(3) The appointee will work at the Chai Wan Campus and/or nearby teaching premises.
