Duties
 
The appointee will be required to:
 
(a) develop and execute appropriate Intellectual Property (IP) management for harvesting of value  and protection of IP;
 
(b) determine the scope and lead the delivery of the required IP due diligence in relation to invention disclosures from academic staff;
 
(c) prepare written evidence-based recommendations on the potential commercialisation opportunity or impact based upon due diligence;
 
(d) work closely with external stakeholders such as patent attorneys, funders and external consultants to advise the IP strategies for problem solving and decision making;
 
(e) establish and maintain productive relationships with the University’s academic and research community to stimulate awareness of IP issues through a variety of communication channels;
 
(f) manage the performance of the external patent attorneys;
 
(g) formulate standard operating procedures for providing high quality services;
 
(h) manage the IP system for database management, and other IP related matters; and
 
(i) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Knowledge Transfer and Entrepreneurship or his/her delegates.
 
Qualifications
 
Applicants should:
 
(a) have a recognised degree in Life Science, Biomedical Sciences or Applied Biology and Chemical Technology, preferably with relevant qualification in Business, Intellectual Property and/or Law;
 
(b) have at least six years of solid professional and relevant IP management experience in the Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences Industries;
 
(c) have sound experience in IP matters related to research and technology transfer;
 
(d) be highly motivated, result-oriented, and able to work under pressure;
 
(e) have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in Cantonese and Putonghua; and

(f) possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
 
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.  
 
Conditions of Service
 
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
