Senior Technical Officer - Institute for Health Innovation (IHI)

The Institute for Health Innovation (IHI), under the Office of the Vice-President for Research and Development (VPRDO), is seeking a capable and motivated individual to join the Institute as a Senior Technical Officer. The appointee will provide laboratory operation, technical, administrative, and programme support to IHI, and work closely with Institute management, users, and internal and external stakeholders to support the Institute’s operations and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

The appointee will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: 

  • Providing laboratory and facilities operation support, including coordination of shared resources and equipment, providing training to users, handling safety compliance, and liaison with relevant University units;
  • Preparing and maintaining laboratory and general administrative documents of the institute, including SOPs, guideline and reports;
  • Assisting in programme management, with a focus on programme admission, administration, and monitoring;
  • Supporting IHI executives and management in administrative, operational, and digital communications matters, including assistance with website and digital platform updates to ensure accuracy and timeliness;
  • Supporting events, seminars, workshops, and related activities, including logistics and post event follow up;
  • Performing ad hoc and non routine tasks as required to support the evolving needs of the Institute.

 

Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • A master’s degree or above in Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Bioengineering, or a related discipline;
  • At least 3 years of hands on experience in laboratory operations or laboratory management, preferably in a tertiary institution or innovation focused organisation;
  • Relevant experience in administrative support, program coordination, or operational support;
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage diverse responsibilities independently and meet deadlines;
  • A proactive, self motivated, detail oriented, and service minded approach to work;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior management and a wide range of stakeholders; and
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, and proficiency in common office applications.
  • Candidates with less relevant experience may be considered for appointment as Technical Officer.

 

Terms and Conditions

Appointment will be made on a one-year contract, renewable, with competitive remuneration and fringe benefits, including medical and dental plans, paid leave, and access to University facilities.
