機會 – 是給有準備的人
筆者在職埸二十多年，由小sales做到跨國媒體公司老總，雖然談不上成功，但總算有一點成績，靠的絕不是運氣 (運氣？ 從小到大都無乜！) ，也不是靠學歷 ，好的學歷確是一張好的入的(職)埸票，對起步開跑時會有幫助，但職埸是一埸長跑，起步好並不保證以後成績一定好，亦沒有人事關係，筆者在職埸路上是靠一個信念；機會是給有準備的人。 筆者認識很多公司老闆，每當問到他們的成功秘訣，他們都很謙虛說只是運氣比較好而已，但同時也不忘補充說：「運氣，只有在你準備好的時候，才能有效發揮作用。」（Luck is good only for the prepared mind）。運氣常常出現，但也稍縱即逝，想抓住身邊一閃而過的運氣，必須事先就妥善的準備好，當然天時、地利及人和也不可缺一。 Pixel Media 老闆 Kevin 是筆者的好朋友，Kevin 於二千年從馬來西亞 Double Click Media 隻身調到香港分公司出任銷售總監，當時Kevin除要面對科網泡沫爆破後惡劣的經營環境、更要從新建立他的客戶及人脈網絡。讀者們可能有所不知，從事新媒體工作的從業人員每天除要應付繁忙的工作外，新媒體發展之快可謂「網上一天、網下十年」，為要貼緊市埸發展，從業員每天要吸收大量資訊，這就是正所謂247 (廿四小時七天工作)不眠不休的行業。

做老闆的條件
立品很少寫文章給身為老闆的人，其實不是自己沒當過老闆，而是做老闆真的不是容易的事。曾經我以為，如果可以揀，我寧願不要有下屬，因為我害怕要替下屬解決自己也未必有答案的問題、我害怕要管人家幾點鐘返工（尤其當你不止有一個手下而其中一個寧舍唔生性時候）、我討厭有人「聲控」我（例如不管甚麼時候，只要他一遇到問題的時候他就覺得可以隨時「㩒制」叫我、我好怕要幫人教仔教女（簡單如冇禮貌冇自覺性…）、我更怕公司好耐都批唔出加薪申請而手下個個眼甘甘望住我又或者開始因此而懶散，總之下刪300字，你懂的。 只是人生有些事唔係下下到你揀，除非你好似前陣子中秋那兩位人兄兩票中了六合彩頭獎而可以選擇唔做。否則，只要當上了人家老闆，立品就仍然覺得你有做好呢份工的需要，而做好這份工，更包含了不止對上層，而是對下層的應對能力。 首先你一定要盡量公平，不能「大細超」，在給予某甲同事一些獎賞的同時也别忽略某乙同事的心情和想法，否則你一定被人詬病。 你一定要自律，其身不正是很容易樹立壞榜樣的，小如上班時間、守時、對下屬的稱呼及不貪小便宜（小如不夾錢但跟同事分享零食）都不應該忽視。 你一定要勤力和進取，你的手下才會清楚知道自己跟了甚麼老闆而自發性地跟貼你的步伐。 你必須盡量跟下屬分享你對公司的業務和形勢的看法，即使不得已要服從上級的取態，也應該盡量在可能的範圍內跟他們分析你的看法和利弊。
