OFFICE OF VICE PRESIDENT (CAMPUS DEVELOPMENT AND FACILITIES) 

The University is now looking for an experienced professional to lead the Project Development Study of the Green Deck. 

The proposed Green Deck project (the Project) involves the provision of a landscaped deck over the Hung Hom Harbour Tunnel Toll Plaza to bring about major social and environmental improvements to the area. The Project is an innovative solution to address the problems currently faced by the neighbourhood such as poor air quality, overloaded footbridge, poor connectivity within the district and lack of amenities and open space. It will not only provide people with a green open space to unwind from the hustle and bustle of city life, but will also help foster sustainable development and enrich quality of life in the community.

Project Director (Green Deck) (Ref. 20020307-IE)

[Appointment will be made on a two-year fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.] 

Duties 

The appointee, reporting directly to Vice President (Campus Development and Facilities), will be required to: 

(a) provide strategic leadership to lead the project development study of the Green Deck; 

(b) develop strategies and oversee the implementation to promote the Project and engage the community and the Government for soliciting support to the Project; 

(c) work closely with the Advisory Committee to liaise and communicate with internal stakeholders of the University, the Government and external bodies for the Project; 

(d) oversee the appointment of consultants for the project development study, as well as monitor the performance of consultants to ensure that the project development study, the study report(s), outputs of study including models, charts and drawings and tasks are delivered on time, with quality and within budget; 

(e) lead a team of professionals and consultants to prepare the project study briefs and conduct the study in line with the requirements as stated in the Grant document; and 

(f) perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Senior Management from time to time.

 

Qualifications 

Applicants should: 

(a) have a recognised degree or above in Architecture, Engineering or in a construction related discipline with extensive relevant management experience and at least 20 years involvement in large scale urban development; 

(b) be a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, the Hong Kong Institute of Planners or the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers; 

(c) have extensive experience in architecture, town planning and urban design, as well as working with various government bodies and stakeholders on major public projects; 

(d) possess strong leadership qualities with a strategic mindset; 

(e) possess a proven track record of developing and formulating policies preferably in the public sector; 

(f) have excellent people skills with a high level of ability to build network and foster collaboration with a wide spectrum of partners and stakeholders; 

(g) be flexible to changes, proactive and energetic, demonstrate foresight and have a strong commitment to drive, support and ensure achievement of objectives; 

(h) have a basic cognizance of the nature and contents of the Project; and 

(i) have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and software pertaining to the editing of technical drawings such as AutoCAD as well as Adobe Acrobat Reader preferably.

 

Remuneration and Conditions of Service 

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
