Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, financial crime and regulatory compliance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth. 

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Senior Market Risk Manager, Insurance. 

In this role, you will

  • Protect Insurance Sites in Asia from losses due to excessive interest rate, Forex, credit spread and equity market exposures and optimize revenue yield relative to market risks.
  • Enable the Business by supporting sufficient market risk limits that are within the Business Risk Appetite.
  • Ensure new initiatives have considered all market risk factors, and its impact to Profit and Loss Solvency and Economic Capital Position.
  • Provide Market Risk Expertise services to Insurance Sites.
  • Provide Group Insurance Market Risk with visibility on Asia Pacific Sites and support in the appropriateness of the existing limit structure.
  • Work effectively with colleagues within Traded Risk Asia Pacific, Asia Pacific Sites and Group Insurance Market Risk.
  • Motivate colleagues to achieve personal and collective goals.
  • Implement effective processes and systems supporting risk strategy
  • Encourage efficient and streamlined market processes, including providing guidance to Global market risk frameworks
  • Ensure that the effectiveness of Internal Control activity is properly monitored
  • Ensure market risk model monitoring and or oversight is effective and appropriate
  • Market risk systems. Help with implementation, upgrade, and maintenance 

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements

  • University graduate in Actuarial, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management related disciplines or quantitative subject
  • Extensive years of relevant working experience
  • Quantitative skills in actuarial, advanced mathematics, or finance.
  • Experience in risk management
  • Ability to understand and interpret insurance product structure and complex business requirements, highlight problems and offer solution
  • Able to take responsibility and ownership of the role
  • Ambition to move forward
  • Solid communication skills, ability to influence partners within the business and Group Traded Risk
  • Strong proficiency in written and spoken English
