Where next as supply chain trade takes a hit?

I am the CEO of a company that manages supply chain for several large Western brands. Rising labour costs in China have, however, prompted two of the company’s largest clients to relocate their supply chains elsewhere. Knowing that this is going to have a severe impact on the company, I am devising a back-up plan should the worst happen. I have observed a number of C-level openings in the retail sector. Although I have not worked in this sector previously, I have had many dealings with it through some former clients. I am unsure how practical such a transition might be. Will past disputes cost me in my C-suite job search?

Despite being successful in my previous job running an advertising agency, I left under a cloud after several disagreements with the chairman. I have not spoken to him or any of the other board members since leaving, and I have taken a period of extended leave for nine months. I’m now applying for a C-level position at another agency which is very similar to the position I left. I know my past results and experience would land me the job, but I’m worried about the impact of my soured relationship with the previous board. Hong Kong is a small place after all.
