A most eligible bachelor to have

Gaining a bachelor of commerce (BCom) degree through Curtin University allows graduates to join CPA Australia's CPA Program, with exemption from its foundation level.

The degree programme is offered by Curtin University in collaboration with Hong Kong University's School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKU SPACE).

BCom graduates are required to complete six segments (four compulsory segments plus two elective segments) at the professional level of the CPA Program, which are normally to be completed in one and a half years.

Simultaneously, graduates can start gaining work experience to fulfil the three-year practical experience requirement of the CPA Program.

Albert Hung, acting head of the College of Business and Finance at HKU SPACE, says holders of diplomas, advanced diplomas, higher-diplomas or above - in any business related disciplines - who are able to demonstrate proficiency in English, can apply to the BCom programme.

"The programme offers all-round training to those taking the first steps towards becoming qualified accountants," says Hung.

He adds that the programme includes academic knowledge in accounting plus hands-on experience in accounting systems and practical computer knowledge.
